Women's Ministry

The Women's Ministry was organized to serve as a spiritual, social, and cultural network of support and enrichment for all women of the parish.  This is accomplished by sponsoring spiritual and social gatherings, acting as an open forum for women's concerns, inviting guest speakers on topics of interest, providing service to those in need, and acting as a support group for other areas of parish life.  Our meetings are held at 7:00 PM on the first Thursday of every month with the exception of January, July, August, and September when no meetings are scheduled.

We have several committees which are comprised of volunteers.  The Funeral Dinner Committee consists of women who prepare a dinner in the Parish Center for members of a deceased person's family and friends to attend after the Mass and graveside services.  The Meal Chain Committee prepares meals once or twice a week for parish families who are experiencing difficulty generally as the result of one of the family members being hospitalized or temporarily incapacitated.  The members of the Prayer Chain Committee pray for the special intentions of anyone who requests prayers for themselves, a family member, or a friend who is experiencing a time if difficulty.

The Women's Ministry also co-sponsors the annual Turkey Dinner and the annual Fish Dinner.  We make crafts as fund raisers at our October and November meetings to sell at the Turkey Dinner.  We also adopt several families during the Christmas season and supply part of the food goods for their Christmas dinner.  We purchase Christmas gifts for all the children of these families.

In addition to making crafts for sale, we have had several raffles, bake sales and other fund raisers over the years and use the profits to sponsor spiritual and social gatherings, purchase items for other church ministries, equipment and supplies for the church staff, and donate to other outside spiritual organizations.  For the past eight years we have been active in supporting the Women's Group of our Sister Community of Cinquera.
