This process is centered on those who, having never been baptized, wish to inquire into the Catholic Faith. It is also for those who, having been baptized in another Christian denomination, wish to inquire into the Catholic Faith. Thirdly, it is for those who, having been baptized in the Catholic Church but never catechized, wish to become an active participant in their church. The group meets weekly for about a year, usually from Easter until the following Pentecost. A person may come into the process at any time, however. Each candidate is assigned a sponsor from the parish. The process is meant to lead to conversion of mind and heart, culminating in the celebration of the sacraments of initiation: Baptism (for those never baptized), Profession of Faith (for those already baptized), Confirmation, and Eucharist; at the celebration of the Vigil of Easter.
