Baptism

When they heard this, they were deeply shaken.  They asked Peter and the other apostles, "What are we to do, brothers?"  Peter answered:  "You must reform and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, that your sins may be forgiven; then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:37-38)

Holy baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments.  Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission;  "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word."

Baptism Preparation Sessions for parents of infants are held monthly.  All parents must attend one session before Baptisms can take place.  You must be registered in the parish and one parent must be an active Catholic.  We highly recommend that you plan to come during the pregnancy when things tend to be a little less hectic and thus have more time to prepare for the spiritual birth of your child.  Pre-registration is necessary.  Call the parish office (229-5168) to register for the preparation.  Adults who desire Baptism should contact Patrick Devenney.
